Malise, Harbour Operative

My favourite thing about Tarbert:

The views and the tranquillity of the village. I love nothing more than taking my Dalmatian dog Storm up to Tarbert Castle. It is so easy to get to from the main Harbour Street, with a couple of designated walking trails around the castle, and the scenery from the top across Loch Fyne, the Kintyre Peninsula, and beyond is something else.

Favourite Tarbert festival

Tarbert Seafood Festival is amazing. This year it takes place on Saturday the 4th and Sunday the 5th of July. Tarbert’s seafood heritage is second to none and The Seafood Festival is a celebration of the fish and shellfish from the crystal-clear waters of Loch Fyne. Fresh shellfish is landed daily in Tarbert, and the Tarbert prawns (langoustines) are not to be missed!

There is a fantastic selection of stalls across the weekend of the festival offering local delicacies, cooking demonstrations, crafts workshops, and a great variety of family-friendly entertainment.

One of the highlights takes place on the Saturday with the crowning of the Tarbert Seafood Festival Queen and her princesses. The Queen travels across the harbour by fishing boat and leads everyone on a festival parade through the village. It’s a lot of fun and everyone is made to feel very welcome.
