Construction Continues

Work continues on the Tarbert Harbour Marina Slipway Project, with significant progress being made on the formation of the new slipway and surrounding infrastructure.

Approximately 1,700 tonnes of stone have now been delivered to the site. The base layer is almost complete, and work is beginning on the placement of the rock armour toe, with the second layer to follow.

A number of large boulders have also been carefully removed from the working area and retained for use later in the project as part of the landscaping works. Native planting is also planned within the rock armour to help create a more natural appearance once the development is complete.

The old pontoon has now been removed, while additional works are planned along the pedestrian walkway as the project progresses.

Upcoming Works

Over the coming weeks, the existing culvert pipe will be extended, alongside the continued placement of rock armour and stone fill.

Much of the current construction activity is taking place within the tidal zone. This makes some elements of the work slower and more challenging, as the construction team must work around changing tidal conditions.

Stone deliveries will continue at approximately 10 lorry loads per day while this phase of the project is underway.

Temporary Access Arrangements

For safety reasons, the access road closest to the construction site – the road leading down the hill towards the bins – will be temporarily closed while stone deliveries are taking place.

Pedestrians are also asked to use the designated pedestrian routes wherever possible during site working hours and to follow all temporary signage and instructions around the construction area.
