Tarbert Harbour is a magical place across the seasons. In our new MEET THE BERTHERS series, we speak to some of our guests who choose our welcoming village and top-class amenities as their home.

Hello, can you tell everyone your names and how long you have been berthing at Tarbert Harbour Marina.

Hello everyone, we’re Willie and Flora MacDonald and our boat is called Sea Spray. We have been berthing in Tarbert permanently for four years and visiting the village for over 20 years.

What are your favourite parts of berthing at Tarbert Harbour Marina?

The onshore facilities are excellent and the scenery around the Marina is lovely and ever changing with lots of lovely walks. We appreciate the staff who are friendly, helpful and always have a ready smile.

Do you have any recommendations to share with new potential berthers and how they can make the most of their winter season on and off the water?

Tarbert Harbour is a perfect place to berth your boat as it is very sheltered. There are numerous good eating places in the village and an excellent take away facility at the marina. There is always a real buzz about the place thanks to the hardworking staff who organise terrific events through the winter, into spring and summer. What’s more, the village offers a good range of clubs and there is an excellent library. One of our recommendations for berthing in winter would be to invest in a router and smart tv, for when the days are shorter.

What are your favourite sailing memories?

We have so many memories. One of our favourites is cruising through the Kyles of Bute across to Largs and dining in Scott’s. Another is visiting Belfast loch and the three marinas there. That said, having visited many marinas in the UK and southern Ireland, we can truthfully say Tarbert is simply the best!

What is your favourite time of year at Tarbert Harbour Marina?

It’s difficult to pinpoint a favourite – each season brings its own beauty and charm – but it’s probably when the sun shines!
