Extension to Harbour Car Park Completed!

The Harbour Board are pleased to announce that the extension to the Harbour Car Park was completed at the end of February.

The extension includes for an additional 20 car parking spaces and the installation of a dual EV charging point and was phase 3 of an ambitious development plan for the Harbour which, included a new Shower/toilet block, the conversion of the old toilet block into a modern Harbour reception/chandlery and office facility and a dedicated waste store.

The car park extension work was carried out by George McNaughton & Son and was made possible with a grant of just over £111k from the Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund through Argyll & Bute Council.  The remainder of the funds came from Harbour reserves.  The installation of the dual EV Charging Point was made possible by a grant through the ‘Energy Saving Trust’.

Duncan Cunningham, Chairman of the Board of Trustees said:

“The Board of Trustees are delighted with the much needed extension to car parking facilities.  The recent Covid-19 Pandemic had delayed work on the project by almost 12 months, however its completion is a great boost to the Harbour’s plans for providing the necessary facilities to meet the demands and expectations of all visitors.

The funding from the Argyll and Bute Council’s ‘Tarbert and Lochgilphead Regeneration Fund’ helped to progress this project to its conclusion and it is now hoped that other planned improvements of our shore side facilities will follow.”
